President Robert Mugabe is now a grandfather. Bona Mugabe-Chikore the first daughter of the 92 year old veteran leader gave birth to a baby boy.
The baby news was disclosed by Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare minister Prisca Mupfumira at a Zanu PF Makonde inter-district meeting at Chinhoyi training centre.
But the baby was born far off away from the run down hospitals of Zimbabwe.
“Let me inform the house that Gushungo vave nemuzukuru, kwakazvarwa mwana mukomana [a baby boy was born],” Mupfumira is said to have disclosed.
The ever humorous Zimbabweans took to social media to vent out their anger at the fact that the president’s daughter found the Zimbabwean hospital unfit for purpose so much that she flew thousands of miles to go and give birth to the president’s grandchild.
“Is the child even Zimbabwean” was the question asked, some even went on to say “at least the little Mugabe-Chikore boy will not rule Zimbabwe given he is from Singapore by birth”
However, the big share on social media was the alleged picture of the little tot. The image of the little child complete with a Mugabe-moustache was all over the internet the little guy is about to break the internet in similar fashion to that infamous kim kadashian photo.
First Lady Grace Mugabe has been in Singapore for the past few weeks, where she was waiting for Bona to deliver her first baby with husband, Simba Chikore. Bona and Chikore wedded in 2014.
Mugabe is said to have always wished to see and play with his first grandchild.
But the decision to fly more than 8 000km for Bona to give birth has been described by critics as a sign of hypocrisy and lack of faith in the country’s healthcare facilities.
